PATC 2.5 Day
New Fire and Arson Investigator Academy
IRIS Fire is pleased to announce we are hosting the PATC 2.5 Day
New Fire and Arson Investigator Academy at our training
facility. The course will be Wednesday, April 4th-Friday, April
6th, 2012. This course is designed for NEW investigators only,
and is based off of NFPA 921 and 1033.
The cost for this class is $275.00 and includes handouts, 2.5 Day New Fire and Arson Investigator Manual, coffee breaks, and Certificate of Completion.
The instructor for this course is Steve Chasteen, CFI, CFEI. Steve Chasteen has more than 37 years in the fire service, including 27 years as a full time firefighter and company officer. Mr. Chasteen has worked as a fire investigator for the past 29 years conducting more that 2,500 fire scene examinations. He has worked as a municipal fire investigator and in the private sector conducting origin and cause investigations for the insurance industry. Steve has also testified in Federal and State courts in Illinois as an expert witness in criminal and civil cases. Mr. Chasteen is a field staff instructor conducting origin and cause investigation training and other fire investigation related topics for the University of Illinois Fire Service Institute. He is recognized as a Certified Fire Investigator through the International Association of Arson Investigators and the Office of the State Fire Marshal of Illinois. Mr. Chasteen is also a Certified Fire and Explosion Investigator by the National Association of Fire and Explosion Investigators. He is a member of the IAAI and NAFI. Mr. Chasteen has also attended the ATF National Academy in Glenco, Ga. He is also a member of the MABAS 41 fire investigation team in McLean County, Illinois.
Course Objectives:
Fire investigations is the process of obtaining facts about a fire to bring you to the conclusion—the Origin of the Fire and Cause.
This two and a half day class will provide you with the tools and knowledge to help you obtain true facts about any fire investigation. This is an entry level class for new personnel entering into fire investigation.
Supposition, misinformation and false intuition will lead to false conclusions.
True Knowledge + True Facts = Actual Case

This class will be held on Wednesday, April 4th through Friday, April 6th, 2012. The hours are 8:00 am -5:00 pm Wednesday and Thursday, and 8:00 am-12:00 pm on Friday (includes exam).
